Scissor Sisters: DIY Fabric Baby Book

image

1. Start by cutting a piece of fabric, place cut pieces on right side of fabric and top stitch around square. Two face up, two face down.

•We used pinking shears, you can zig-zag stitch or fold under so not fray.

2. Next fold fabric in half, cut a piece of interfacing this size and press it on with iron on one wrong side of half the fabric.

•This will make book stiff, also use batting if you want a thicker, fluffier book. Now with right sides together fold it in half again stitch around the outside. Leaving a open seam so that we can turn it right side out)

3.Once you have stitched all pages and flipped inside out. Hand stitch the opening shut. Now you can place all pages together and finish binding them all together. Make sure they are all facing right way!

•If you used batting may have to cut inside pages down so not stick out over outside cover. Do this before you close up opening.

•We used ribbon to look like book binding.

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! This is a belated recap of our fun little weekend, we ended up getting to do some things we have been too busy to do for a while. Friday night we went to the movie in the park, it’s always fun but it was waaaay too crowded so that was a bit of a bummer. Saturday we went downtown to the art museum and it was wonderful! Have you guys ever seen the Thorne rooms? Narcissa Niblack Thorne collected miniature furniture and accessories on her world travels and had the amazing idea to create little rooms to hold her collections (1 inch=1 foot). They are fascinating, I could have looked at them all day, the detail will blow your mind, check them out if you havent! (The fashion exhibit was great too!) We did some shopping at Urban Outfitters and scored some great finds, (all of the sale items were an extra 50% off) as well as the lovely photo of Alex and Azi. We had pear cider and watched a highly anticipated Lifetime Movie, ate oatmeal for breakfast on Sunday, and road bikes to dinner! All in all it was great, and the weather was perfect!
